Our Story
HOW WE'VE EVOLVED OVER THE YEARS
Accurate IT had its beginnings as Social WiFi Marketing in 2007. We were a small, regional company with humble beginnings that grew into a company that managed over 10,000 wifi hotspots for businesses across North America. We specialized in managing wifi hotspots for the hospitality and restaurant industries. The company was founded just as the social media industry began its sharp ascent and we saw an opportunity to shake up the status quo. We developed technology that was the first of its kind that allowed businesses to not just provide wifi to its customers as a convenience, but also use wifi as a marketing tool. Open Auth was in its infancy and our team at Social WiFi Marketing developed a proprietary process that allowed businesses to require their guests to sign into their free wifi with social media accounts. This sign in process allowed businesses to collect up to 85 data points that they could use in their marketing efforts. Since the development of this social media wifi authentication method many have imitated the process but none have duplicated it.
As the social media industry evolved and regulations were put in place to limit what information social media platforms can collect and share, the company realized it needed to evolve. This evolution led to another industry first when the talented developers at Social WiFi Marketing developed yet another proprietary process that allowed us to inject advertising into the pages and content that were being viewed by our clients’ customers. This allowed us to create revenue for us and our clients without charging management fees to our clients. With this evolution, the company took on a new name and identity….Free Spot WiFi.
As Free Spot WiFi grew we found ourselves providing more and more general IT services. In late 2021 we realized that we were no longer just a wifi management company and had become a full service managed service provider (MSP). In January of 2022 we separated the companies into two divisions and two separately managed companies. Free Spot WiFi continues to specialize in the wifi industry and IT HQ operates as a full service MSP, both as wholly owned companies of Accurate IT. True to our history, innovation is always at the top of our priorities as well as our customer service that is unparalleled in the IT industry.
